Kate Green MP (chair)

Kate is the member of parliament for Stretford and Urmston and chair of the Fabian Society. Prior to her election Kate was chief executive of the Child Poverty Action Group, and before that director of the National Council for One Parent Families (now Gingerbread).

Ivana Bartoletti (vice chair)

Ivana is chair of the Fabian Women’s Network and vice chair of the Labour Movement for Europe. In her day job, she heads up the privacy and data protection practice at Gemserv. She is passionate about privacy, data, artificial intelligence and the internet of things, and speaks at conferences and events in the UK and overseas.

Ria Bernard (Young Fabians)

Ria is the national chair of the Young Fabians and has a special interest in health and education policy. She is a speech and language therapist working in inner city London schools with an MSc in Neuroscience. Ria sits on the London Co-operative party executive and was formerly chair of London Young Labour.

Stephen Bradley

Stephen is a doctor in a specialist service for homeless people and immigrants in Leeds. He is also a tutor and researcher at the University of Leeds Medical School.

Emily Brothers (local Fabian societies representative)

Emily was Labour parliamentary candidate for Sutton and Cheam for the 2015 general election and was a Labour London Assembly list Candidate in 2016. She is standing in this year’s local elections in Sutton for a third time. Not only was Emily the first blind woman to stand for Westminster, but she was Labour’s first trans parliamentary candidate and has received wide acclaim for raising awareness on equality. Emily is elections and campaigns co-ordinator for LGBT Labour and serves on the executive committee of Disability Labour.

David Chaplin (Treasurer)

David is treasurer of the Fabian Society and a former chair of the Young Fabians. He oversees the Society’s finance and operations strategy, and chairs the executive committee’s finance and general purposes sub-committee. David worked for the Labour party for a number of years and was director of strategic communications for Britain Stronger In Europe.

Luke John Davies (local Fabian societies representative)

Luke John is the chair of Birmingham and West Midlands Fabians. He previously sat on the Young Fabians national executive and was the first chair of the Young Fabians International Network. He is a PhD student at Aston University researching changes to social democratic parties in western Europe and is a member of the FEPS Young Academic Network.

Martin Edobor

Martin is a NHS doctor specialising in general practice and a former national chair of the Young Fabians. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a trustee for CommUNITY Barnet, a voluntary service charity.

Matthew Hexter (Welsh Fabians)

Matthew is the convener of the Welsh Fabians and a researcher for a Welsh Labour MP. Matthew sits on Welsh Labour policy forum and is communication secretary for his local CLP. His areas of interest include devolution and constitutional law as well as automation and the future of the world of work.

Sara Hyde (Fabian Women)

Sara Hyde has worked in the criminal justice system, primarily with women, for ten years, following a first career in theatre. She has been a PPC and a London Assembly candidate. She was in the inaugural Jo Cox Women in Leadership cohort and is vice chair of the Fabain Womens Network.

Lord Kennedy

Lord Kennedy of Southwark is a Labour and Co-operative peer. Roy is shadow minister for housing and local government in the House of Lords and a lifelong Fabian and Co-operator. He is a director of his local credit union and supports both Millwall FC and Surrey County Cricket Club.

Seema Malhotra MP

Seema is the member of parliament for Feltham and Heston. She is a senior member of the select committee for exiting the European Union and chair of the APPG on assistive technologies. She served in Labour’s Treasury team as shadow chief secretary from 2015 to 16 and previously was a shadow Home Office minister and opposition whip. She is a former chair of the society and is co-founder and president of the Fabian Women’s Network.

Alison McGovern MP

Alison has been the Labour MP for Wirral South since 2010 and the chair of Progress since 2015. She served on Labour’ shadow front bench as shadow economic secretary to the treasury, shadow childcare minister and shadow international development minister. She was elected to the Treasury Select Committee in 2017. She is a member of the SMF advisory board and Fabian Society executive.

 Jim McMahon MP

Jim stood in the Oldham West & Royton parliamentary by-election in December 2015 increasing the Labour majority to 10,722. He further increased his majority in the snap-general election in June 2017.

Jim is currently shadow minister for local government and devolution, which includes local government finance. He was elected to the executive committee of the Fabians at the end of 2017.

Catriona Munro (vice chair, Scottish Fabians)

Catriona has been a Fabian and actively involved in politics throughout her adult life. She has been a candidate in Westminster and Holyrood elections. She is a practising lawyer, specialising in EU and competition law.

Reema Patel

Reema Patel is an experienced public policy professional – having worked in local government and led research initiatives at think-tanks Involve, the RSA’s Action and Research Centre and the New Local Government Network. Reema is presently working at the Nuffield Foundation to help scope and set up an independent body focusing on data ethics and artificial intelligence. She is an experienced local councillor and has been a member of the Fabian Society for almost a decade.

Tobias Phibbs (Staff representative)

Tobias Phibbs is a researcher at the Fabian Society, having joined in January 2016. Prior to working for the Fabians he worked at the Institute of Art and Ideas for a year where he was head of politics. He has a degree from the University of Cambridge in politics, psychology and sociology.

Sarah Sackman

Sarah is a public law barrister and community campaigner​​. She specialises in housing, urban planning and environmental law. In 2015, Sarah stood as​​ Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Finchley and Golders Green. Sarah is a guest lecturer at LSE Cities and writes widely on housing and social justice issues.

Howard Stoate (local Fabian societies representative)

Howard is a practising GP and fellow of the Royal College of GPs. He was member of parliament for Dartford between 1997 and 2010, before standing down to become chair of Bexley CCG and continue in general practice. Howard is the co-author of three Fabian pamphlets and has served on two previous executive committees.
